About

What is your background?
I have worked and studied in this profession for nine years and am now currently serving Colorado Springs, Denver and beyond. I have a background in Esthetics with a focus on professional makeup for the High Definition World.
At what point in your life did you decide to become a makeup artist?
I have always experimented with makeup. I actually have a Science degree and have loved art as well. Makeup is really a combination of the two. I decided a few years ago to go to school and start learning everything there is to know. You never stop learning and each job is different so this makes it very exciting for me.
What do you love most about being a makeup artist?
I have met some amazing people! I appreciate the intimacy and trust that comes from taking care of my clients. It is not uncommon to for me to develop personal relationships with them because we work long days or weeks together. Because of this I get to know them on a personal and professional level. I also love being behind the scenes.
What are your greatest strengths as a makeup artist?
I am very focused on the task at hand. There can be chaos all around me and I won’t get distracted. It can get stressful right before we go on live television and I may have very little time to get the talent ready however, I can work very quickly and efficiently. I am also able to work well in very challenging settings.
What do your clients like or appreciate about you the most?
Directors, Producers and other members of a crew like that I am easy to work with. I never complain or ask for things when situations become difficult or stressful. I may feel stressed sometimes but they’ll never know it!
My celebrity and high profile clients also appreciate that I am naturally protective and respectful of their privacy too.
What is the best compliment a client can give you?
“I trust you!”
What are your greatest challenges?
Even though I have been doing this for a long time it is still very difficult for me to rise at 3 or 4am to work on national network news. Another challenge is when we’re shooting and the weather won’t cooperate. I have worked during heavy winds, and severe thunderstorms.
I also miss having some structure in my life. You never really know what days or times you’re going to be working, it’s always different. I can rarely plan ahead and that makes my private life suffer a bit. I still wouldn’t change it for anything though!
What characteristics are needed to succeed in this business?
Besides talent and creativity you also have to be able to handle people and solve problems. It’s also important to be flexible and perceptive. It’s up to me to establish what’s needed even though the information I receive sometimes is somewhat vague or abstract. Photos are the best way for me to communicate.
I always make sure to pack everything I need and more because you just never know. Oh, and I always take a smile!
Is there anyone in particular you would like to work with?
Fashion Photographer Steven Meisel!
Which makeup artists inspire you?

Define Beauty?

What job has been the most fun?
